Insurance approval

My Dr scheduled my surgery the end of November and I go for Pre op on friday the 16th My surgery is monday the 19th. I am worried that for some reason my insurance wont approve my hysterectomy. Would they already have approval since it is scheduled for less than a week away? I would be so dissapointed if I show up monday and they tell me its not approved. Does anyone know how this works?

Re: Insurance approval

Your doctor's office should have submitted the paper work to your insurance company. You can call you insurance company to make sure. I wasn't clear about the procedures so I called my insurance company to see how to get pre-approval and they already had my information and I was approved. That was a load off of me hearing directly from the insurance company.

Re: Insurance approval

I got pre approval for mine, although I didn't actually get the letter until post op. You can check with your Dr or the ins co and see if it's approved----I'd start with the Dr's office. They know the routine and should help if it still hasn't cleared.

Re: Insurance approval

I was pre-approved and knew how much I was going to pay out of pocket a few days before the surgery. Definitely call.
