Surgery date confirmed

My doctor's office confirmed the date today and went over pre-surgery instructions. Surgery is 3 weeks from tomorrow. It is going to go so fast. I have a seasonal retail job and am working a ton of hours next week. The following week will be spent at home for 3 days (not sure if working, the schedule isn't out yet) and then up to spend a few days with my family for a late Christmas. I will be coming home on January 2nd.

The day before I will have to do a bowel prep, so I will have one day at home that week to finish everything that didn't get done before I go. I don't want to leave a huge honey-do list for the DH but I am going to have to ask a little extra from him. He is pretty scared and nervous. I hate putting too much extra on him.

My mom and sister will be coming in for the day of surgery but won't be able to stay as they live out of state. I am glad they will be there to give the DH some support. I am feeling mostly okay about things, I'm sure I will get nervous as it gets closer. I am going to be relieved to have it all over with. I am a little anxious about the pre-stuff and anesthesia, but am looking forward to not having to deal with the excessive bleeding every month. My largest fibroid is nearly 10cm and my uterus is about the size of an 18 wk pregnancy. We think my ovaries are healthy and are planning on leaving them intact. I'm so glad to have found the forums here, because it is helping me get ready and not to panic too much. So grateful to have found you all.

Re: Surgery date confirmed

I am glad you have your surgery date. That is at least nailed down, and you can start getting things ready for your down time. DH can help more than he realizes. Mine was very helpful, and I also tried to do some things ahead of time, like meals in the freezer, simple dinners planned that even my DH can cook, etc. I super cleaned my house and prepped the yard (it was spring when I had my surgery). Keep in mind, though, the most important thing is healing right during your recovery. So if your house does not get cleaned post-op, it is okay.

It is normal to be anxious for your surgery. The doctors and nurses will take very good care of you. The will get your through it. And we will be here to support you. Post your concerns and emotions on this site - it really helps.

(((Hugs)))
