Dvh w/ both removed

Did anyone have to stay in the hospital overnight after having a dvh with everything else removed and did you have a lot of pain afterward? I can't take anything stronger than tylenol for pain due to prior removal of bowel, colon, small intestine, and cancerous appendix. Just wondering

Re: Dvh w/ both removed

I had the daVinci.....but I kept my ovaries. They took both my cervix and uterus. They kept me overnight. I never even filled my pain medication subscription...I just never really had any pain. Tenderness, yes...but not really pain. After a week I tried to get on the elliptical and went on the lowest level for just ten minutes...after I did that, I knew I had done too much because I got some throbbing pain in the vaginal cuff....I took some Advil for that, but that is the only pain medication I've had to date....needless to say, I've not been back on the elliptical.

I guess the main thing is to take it easy when you get home. If you do, I think you'll be fine without the pain pils

Re: Dvh w/ both removed

Thanks. It sounds like your surgery went okay. Can I ask if you had to do the bowel prep?

Re: Dvh w/ both removed

Yes I had to do the bowel prep...I think different people do different things for bowel prep, but I had to take the magnesium citrate bottle.

I tried to eat light several days in advance so that the prep would not be too bad. It was "ok". I drank the magnesium at around 3:30 the day before surgery and wish I had started a little earlier....I was still dealing with going to the bathroom the morning of surgery.

Good luck with your surgery!
