Aint I Woman? Yep, still feel better...positive thoughts

So, my title is in reference to a Maya Angelou poem. I keep reading posts about not feeling womanly. Being a woman is not a uterus. It is how you present yourself as strong. You don't stop being human if your appendix is removed, so this is no different. As for regrets, nope. At two weeks post op from TAH, yes it hurts, gas pain, aches, exhaustion, boredom.....all true but I already feel better and know it will get better each week. I feel more womanly now than before. Don't listen to the naysayers and be at peace with your decision. This, too, shall pass and we get stronger every day.

Well said. I rid myself of an offending, misbehaving organ, I didn't change my identity. I am who I am, uterus or no.

As a scientist, my sense of the absurd says, "Removal of the uterus does not change an X chromosome to a Y." But, I will admit, facts and logic play little part in emotion.

Now that I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and feeling more comfortable, I've had time to move through emotions and accept the reality that I am no longer toting around an unhealthy uterus! No more bleeding... no more wearing only black pants... no more purses full of jumbo absorbency tampons... No more worrying... No more sex-life-on-hold! I welcome this new beginning!
