On the 8th day of Christmas my surgeon gave to me

A subtotal laparascopic hysterectomy!!! lol Sorry, I couldn't resist. Here I am, eight days until my surgery and ever so grateful for HysterSisters and each woman who has taken the time to share her story and feelings here. Thank you so much my HysterSisters!

I am 45 yo, diagnosed with endo, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, fibroid in my uterus, 11 cm/enlarged uterus, dysfunctional uterine bleeding (40 days continuous now but problems started years ago) and uterine hyperplasia. My doctor also suspects IC/Interstitial Cystitis which honestly I am not sure about because it makes sense to me that if I am carrying around a bloated uterus my bladder is going to feel pressure and pain.

Tomorrow is my hospital pre-op bloodwork and paperwork plus doctor's appointment for IC testing. They are going to catheterize me then fill/empty my bladder after making me cough, stand, etc. to measure difference. I've had two big babies and one birth w/forceps so heck yeah I've got leakage! I'm still unsure about the doctor wanting to do a hydro/cysto during LSH but will see what the results of tomorrow say before deciding about that. Mostly I'm afraid my bladder may rupture during the cysto/hydro as I've read this happening to others.

I'm all about preparation and my bags are already packed. I've read, "The Essential Guide to Hysterectomy" (VERY helpful), and reading the HysterSister book, "Through The Land of Hyster" (LOVE it and this website!) and "Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster" along with the relaxation CD. I also have some CD's with guided imagery and subliminal healing and pain relief messages, all downloaded on my iphone to come w/me to the hospital as well.

Very blessed to have a caring and attentive husband who will be with me and my wonderful mom is coming in from out of town to care for our kids and pets and help me for about 10 days. Don't know what I would do without her because we all know no man can be as nurturing and understanding as a woman, lol. Well maybe some can but not typically the kind that marry women, heehee.

Thank you if you made it this far and for any advice or thoughts to share! So grateful for this site!
