Starting to get real

So my surgery is Thursday. I had my pre-op interview. I had my blood drawn and am wearing my hospital blood type bracelet. Needless to say I am starting to freak. The nurse did tell me I could take an ativan tomorrow night to help me sleep. Looks like I may spend Christmas in the hospital. Not fun, but not the end of the world either.

All I have left to do is a bit more food prep, take to dog to the groomers tomorrow, also phone for my surgery time. No real bowel prep, just an enema after dinner tomorrow and the nothing to eat or drink after midnight. This will be my 6th surgery, but that doesn't make me any less nervous. I wish all the ladies going in on Thursday a very happy hysterectomy day!! Thanks for all you support ladies!! 2 more sleeps.

Re: Starting to get real

Hopefully you'll get to go home Saturday. I had a TAH on a Friday and went home on Sunday.

Good luck to you! I'm a week post-opt and the relief to be done is great. I took sleeping pills for 5 days pre-opt and that really helped. Keep positive and busy and know we are all here for you! Big Cyber Hug and just think: "Uterus Free in January!!!"

Re: Starting to get real

Best of luck!! I hope you are home for Christmas, but if not, think positive about the new year in better health! Take good care and don't overthink. I am 5 days post op and doing well. And I was super nervous as well. Don't worry about sleep the night before, you can sleep plenty *after*. Take good care,
