Re: Bowel Prep?

Today is BP day for me (although I have done this 5 times before) - I too have to drink 8.3 oz of Miralax mixed with clear liquid. I prefer to mix with really really cold gaterade. I also prefer the light purple - grape flavor. My Dr. said any flavor, other red or orange. I definitely recommend the gatorade as cold as you can get it, even mixed with ice if needed.

Good Luck!

Re: Bowel Prep?

I'm wondering why some have to do the prep and others don't? I wasn't instructed to do any prep. Should I be concerned that I wasn't instructed to?

Re: Bowel Prep?

Every Dr has their own process/preferences. You might call and just confirm that you aren't suppose to, although I have read from others here that they did double check and they were told no.

Good luck to you.

Thank you, I will call just to confirm. I've had to do prep 3x for other procedures. I'm very thankful I don't have to do it again.

Re: Bowel Prep?

Well my Dr has been switched as to who is doing the surgery and they do a different type of bowel prep and I have not heard exactly what they said something about potassium? We will see.

Re: Bowel Prep?

I just had my pre-op appointment and I'm not looking forward to the prep. The day before I have to start drinking something called PEG. Then at 3am I have to do 2 fleet enimas (sp). I was excited about being the first surgery of the day but not to sure about waking up at 3am to do that. I guess no goodnight sleep for me that night.

Re: Bowel Prep?

I am having my surgery on the 5th. I have appointments on the 3rd all day so I took that day off work. I work 45 minutes from home and have to work on the 4th. I recently got the bowl prep info in the mail so now I'm thinking I am going to have to take the 4th off work too...

Re: Bowel Prep?

I had 2 ducolax at 2pm the day before surgery and then started the miralax/gatorade mix at 6 pm. Didn't take very long before things started moving!! I chose the purple the 2nd bottle of had gotten too sweet. If I could do it over, I would chose the yellow, as it isn't nearly as sweet. The who process wasn't that bad at all!!

Re: Bowel Prep?

I had a TVH, and my doc called me at 5pm the night before my surgery and told me to do a Fleets enema... He said the lower bowel needed to be clear of any waste bc it could get a Lil messy on the operating table... Lol
