Re: Who is back in the gym?

I haven't done a dang thing. I wear out easy, just doing everyday things. Starting back to work next week, will be the most effort I've done since the end of November. Our church has a Body & Soul fitness class that I was doing before surgery, and the next session starts next week. With the doctors permission, I'll start back, even if I have to modify for any restrictions. I want to get active, I just haven't been motivated.

Who is back in the gym?

I walked treadmill 2miles.on week 2 (took mme forever to finish 2 mi) then 3 miles on week 3, and added mileage each week. I'm power walking 5miles almost daily, adding some incline for lot of the workout. It feels good to sweat. I'll wait till week 8 to start running (mid January). I can't wait. Its hard to do cardio at the gym and skip through the weight training mschines. Definitely waiting for those.

Re: Who is back in the gym?

Talked to the doc-so, crunches are a No-No...opps. And no squats, no push ups or pull ups. I can lift upper body under 20 pounds, just nothing that involves the abdominal region. SO, at least I can do my arms!!!

Re: Who is back in the gym?

I was just cleared yesterday to resume "normal activities", and when I hopped happily onto my treadmill something went "PING" painfully in my right hip region after about ten minutes and still hurts. Go slowly. Please remember there is a lot of muscle and nerve trauma in these surgeries, even if it doesn't show externally. Plus, after lying about for even a couple of weeks the muscles and those delicate ligaments get lax and need to be warmed up thoroughly and built up again! I thought I was being careful and I'm still here alternating ice and heat.
