I think I cried off and on all night, and got teary eyed today. I am so nervous, this is crazy. Any last minute stress releavers/tips.

Re: today is my day and scared

Know that as soon as youve signed all the stuff at the castle, they will give you something to take the stress away. There will be medication to manage your discomfort, overseen by people that know what theyre doing. You are on a well traveled road. Put your trust in those that are around you. When you look at all of us on the post ops, know our most common complaint is an inability to poop and gas. You can do this !! See you on the post op boards and best wishes for a quick and easy recovery

Re: today is my day and scared

Good luck with your surgery today. I am sorry that you are feeling so anxious. I had my surgery 12/22 and was nervous early on but as I approached the surgery, my nerves seemed to ease. The nurses and doctor will take great care of you. Try to relax and focus on the other side. Remember how much better you are going to feel. I am about 5 days post op and I can't believe how good I feel. I woke up from surgery with pain equal to moderate menstrual cramps. You will probably have a pain pump that you can use. I used mine for the first hour or so after recovery and have been on very little pain meds since. The hard part for me now is to remember that I had surgery and not to over do it.

Pre-surgery, I would read online the questions and concerns people had and it made me nervous of what might happen. You might need to limit your reading until you get to post op.

Try to think positive and keep your eye on the prize! I'll be thinking of you and praying for you today!

Re: today is my day and scared

Don't be scared. You will know nothing until after the surgery and the pain killers after will make you feel so numb that you will come home and not realize what just happen to you. How you deal with the recovery is the hardest. But from my experience, if you expect the worse, you'll be so thankful for feeling better than expected. :P

BTW ...I had to wait for 3 hours in the pre-op unit because of an emergency cesarian that took my spot...I must tell you that I almost fell asleep there...What could I do?....And mine was abdominal ... a huge one...19 stitches...

So, bon courage! and see you later...

Re: today is my day and scared

You're not a chicken! This is a major surgery, and you have every right be to be nervous. I know I was, and to this day I still get nervous before a procedure. I will say a prayer for you, and I wish you the best of luck! The castle awaits their newest princess.....
