post op spotting

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting so I hope I do it right. I had my TLH on 12-6. I came home on 12-7 and by the next day I was not bleeding or spotting at all. Well, I am feeling pretty good so I have been up doing things. Going grocery shopping, going places for the holidays. I also did some driving. Well, on 12-22, I started spotting. It is not bright red. It is the pinkish brownish color. Sorry if that was TMI. I am wondering if this is something to be really concerened about or if I have just over done it and should be resting more. I know this is only my 3rd week post op.
Thanks for all your help everyone. I love this board.

Re: post op spotting

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. You will get a lot of great information on the forum to help you through your recovery.

You may be overdoing things a bit. I had a total hysterectomy and had zero spotting.

Did you have your cervix removed and have a vaginal cuff? If you did, you will want to be very careful not to overdo as this can tear the stitches in the vaginal cuff and cause problems with healing.

Everyone's healing experience is different, but the body needs time to heal properly. Remember... you get one chance to heal correctly. You may want to slow down your activities just a bit.

Best of luck to you on your healing journey.

It is good to hear that you are feeling good! You do need to be careful though. You don't want to do too much because you feel good now, because you could pay for it later. You are still very early in your recovery.

As far as the bleeding, it sounds pretty normal. Internal stitches start to dissolve around the 3 to 5 week mark and sometimes that can cause some light bleeding. If you have over-done it a bit, that can increase your chances of bleeding.

I would slow down and just take some more time to pamper yourself. I know the holidays are super busy, but this is the time you need to rest, relax, and take care of yourself!

Keep your eye on the bleeding. If it becomes heavy (like a period), is bright red, or has clots, you should contact your as soon as possible.

Here's hoping you don't even have to worry about that and that you stop spotting soon and you continue to feel good!
