getting anxious but ready

I am a 40 yr old that is having LAVH on Jan. 25th and I am very ready. After suffering for several years with menstrual migraines and progressively worsening menses, I can hardly wait for this to happen. I am getting concerned however, that this won't take care of my issues. Also, I am a care provider for a smh person and am wondering about length of time before I can care for them again. Any advice or words of strength would really help me right now. Thank you all.

Re: getting anxious but ready

Does your care also require bending or lifting? I know there are restrictions for that for awhile.

Hi Dolphinlover71,
You will be just fine...I too was very anxious with my TVH on 12-16-11, I am a big chicken when it comes to that stuff, but you will get thru it and feel fine on the other side Good luck to you and make sure you don't bend or lift, those are no no's for a while, ask your doctor!

Re: getting anxious but ready

Every person heals differently and at different rates. Depending on what is required of you to care for the smh individual, and how that interfaces with your healing, will determine the length of time you need. You only get one chance to heal right. That may be 3 plus weeks for you to return to care giving. And you will have lifting restrictions for some time - probably 10 lbs for six weeks.

Talk to your doctor about your concerns as to whether the surgery will fix your problems (or get a second or third opinion). In addition ask about the length of recovery in context with your care giving.

Good luck

(((Hugs)))
