Re: Having a TVH need encouragement

I had a TVH on Dec 12th. I can understand needing encouragement. Before surgery I wondered "am i doing the right thing", "am I going to be ok", "what will life be like after surgery". I spent many months putting this off, and once I had a date.....many more spent crying.

Looking back (and ahead), I am so greatful that I did this. Even though I'm still recovering and I have a long way to go, it is so wonderful to be rid of that awful pain I was in. I finally feel like I am slowly getting my life back.

I was scared to death but life is so much better on this side!
Good luck with your upcoming surgery. You will do great!

Re: Having a TVH need encouragement

Mine is tomorrow--jan 5, 2012. Like you, I am, well, freaking out. I gotta be at the hospital at 5:30 AM; this should be no problem, as I will be wide awake! My uterus is leaving, tomorrow, as it has been trying to leave for the last few years-- on its own--prolapse. I had repairs done on the anterior and posterior, last year, but the problem quickly returned. I can't really give you encouragement--only that we are in this, together. I will say a prayer for you, on Friday--maybe you will send some positive energy my way, tomorrow...at 5:30...

Re: Having a TVH need encouragement

Everyone I have talked to says that it will change your life...FOR THE BETTER! No more pain, no more crazy bleeding and no more putting your life on hold. It's going to be a great thing. Just have to think positively.

Re: Having a TVH need encouragement

I had mine on 5th December. Already in less pain than I was before and my energy levels are coming back.

You won't regret it - and don't be afraid, the modern pain management is amazing. I was only ever in a mild discomfort, even straight after the surgery!!

Re: Having a TVH need encouragement

You will do just fine. My TVH is the 11th. And am looking forward to a life without the Hyster. That is the only thing keeping me together. Things can only be better afterwards.

Curious when you say "the problem returned" do you mean the anterior/posterior repairs need to be redone or that prolapse returned but this time it is the uterus? I am 3 weeks post-op tvh a/p repair - probably will always worry about an eventual re-do.

To the original poster - I was afraid as well but am so glad to have it done and over with. The pain is manageable and as long as you rest at home it's not been too bad here for me.

Re: Having a TVH need encouragement

Just think about how you won't have your vacations ruined by the Wicked witch of the South anymore. Be sure to get lots of rest after your surgery. It takes time to heal. I'm 5 weeks post op and still healing. I was really tired the first 2 weeks but then my energy started returning. Sending positive vibes your way...
