I am 3 weeks post-op today and this has been going on for 3 days already.... I still have 3-5 weeks to go before testing things out (Total Hyst-removed uterus and cervix).
I Think there is some sort of hormonal thing that happens, because, I too, had this same sensation around 5 to 8 days after surgery. Had great dreams, and really was on fire. Like some others have said, I wish I could have that back now that we are free to partake. I was cleared for takeoff by my doc at 4 weeks, but so far, I am sorry to report, my body is not responsive at 6 weeks out. In my case however, a complication has accured. My ovaries that were left in are not working, and I went into menopause, plus, a nerve was damaged and I have very little sensation.

I hope both of my issues clear up eventually. Some have said it did for them on the boards. So I am trying to think positively.

Hang in there girls!

Omg - I am so sorry to hear that you are having these post-op complications! How did you know that your ovaries aren't working? I too left both, and that is my biggest fear: I have a history of a blood clot so I am not a candidate for HRT. Is it possible that they will "kick in" as they say? Hopefully the nerve damage will also subside with time.

Saying prayers for you that things get back to "normal" - newer better "normal" that is!

So, I had my surgery on 12/19 and last night was the first night I had sex; my doctor released me after 4 weeks. I had no pain, no bleeding, so that was good. But I also didn't feel too much, so that was not good. Don't know if I am numb or what. Or maybe because it was the first time & my partner was being very gentle with me. The oral sex was wonderful (I hadn't done that post-op either) but my outer anatomy wasn't touched during the surgery so I expected that to be the same. After last night, I'm really not very excited about trying again anytime soon. :-(

Re: Return to Intimacy?

shalex, if you read some of the older posts you will see that it's not uncommon in the beginning to experience numbness. I read that the sensation does come back.

This morning was our first attempt at intimacy and while I did achieve orgasm we never did succeed at intercourse. I was scared, he was scared and things are ummmm much tighter down there which really scared me! So, I think either tonight or tomorrow I will try a glass of wine first and see if I relax enough to try this again. My DH has been sooooooo patient and sweet.

Thanks for those prayers. Not enjoying this part of life much right now. As far as ovaries go, it is a very obvious thing. You will know if they are working or not. If not you hit intant menopause. Hot flash, night sweats, dry as the desert down there, and mood issues, just to name the top four.

But the one that gets my goat the most is the lack of sex drive, or sexual response. Seriously, if this part were better, I think I could live with the rest.

Still praying for some small miracle!

Re: Return to Intimacy?

I had my 1st post op visit today - its day 10 since my LSH . My Dr said I can resume ALL activities as of today . I only have 1 scope site in my belly button. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Re: Return to Intimacy?

10 days post op and you can resume sexual relations? Did you keep your cervix?

Re: Return to Intimacy?

bimmer,
Even if you did keep your cervix, be careful. Your cervix and other things are still healing and hurt when they bump up against other organs. I got released for sex at 4 weeks after my surgery, and it caused pain and some bleeding. Be careful, and happy healing!

Same here. I had LSH also. He said as long as there was no pain/bleeding I could do pretty much whatever I felt like doing. We did try at 2 weeks, but my incision kept pulling so we stopped. Waited till 4 weeks and tried again. No pain/bleeding but wasn't great. Waited another week and tried again and it was great! I started back taking tap lessons at 3 weeks, 6 days, started carrying my grandson (about 19 lbs) after 2 weeks but only a little at a time. Now at 5 weeks, I feel like I can do almost everything. Pants don't fit though.

I think it is probably different for everyone. I never even had to take pain medicine after leaving the hospital, except for some Ibuprofen for my back pain a couple of times.
