If I knew then what I know now ... I would have had a lot of rest before the surgery (not washing, cleaning, cooking etc. until just before surgery). I went into surgery very tired which did not help at all, especially with the pain. If I would have to start it all again I would try to do some stretching for weeks in advance: there are so many moves you cannot do after surgery, beeing more flexible would have helped. Glad I went in with my mani, pedi, hair all done - feeling lousy after surgery anyway ... feeling ugly would not help....Set aside lots of pillows and was a great idea. Had tons of tshirts clean, also a great idea since I was sweating and smelling like a horse for 10 days after my TAH. Also, a step stool near the bed helped me tremendously. Oh, and have your Metamucil and Gas-X ready. Get lots of sleep and eat well. Best wishes !
