Bleeding @ 5 weeks?? HELP

I have been wiping pink on & off since surgery 5 weeks ago today. Need your advise!! Around 2 wk, first real outing, DH drove me to a Wal-Mart & I walked around supervising my families purchases. We ate @ a nice restaurant. Needless to say, first time, since surgery, had a great appetite. Feeling bad, DH took me straight home. I felt two gushes. Restroom revealed, I was COVERED in bright red blood! I went straight to bed. Considering it was on a Sat. night. I stayed in bed until I finally talked to Dr. Mon. afternoon. He claimed it was a fluid sac ruptured on my vaginal cuff. 2 wks later, still wiping pink @ 4 wks checkup. With no vaginal exam, He stated that I still hadn't healed yet. Giving me another 2 wks off work. Cleared me for sex in 8 wks. Wants to see me back in a year! However, THIS MONDAY, I FELT A SMALL GUSH. YUP ABOUT 2 TABLESPOONS OF BRIGHT RED. This week, approved, started walking to ease back pain, sore tummy, insomnia & get my stamina back. Work in a week? Like this?? I work 8 hours with 3 & 4 year olds..Any Suggestions?

Call your Dr and insist on a proper exam. Have you had any more bright red blood? Spotting during recovery is normal. However, your Dr should be more receptive to your concerns.

Re: Bleeding @ 5 weeks?? HELP

YUP, I agree with Beth L. I'm 5 weeks post and the most I have is light pink tinged mucus. No gush, no mess, not even enough to wear more than a pany liner. Slow yourself down and get it checked.

Re: Bleeding @ 5 weeks?? HELP

I had a similar experience at 2 weeks post op, and my doctor was right on it! She did a vaginal exam right away and thought for a minute and checked yet something else. She didn't have a for sure reason but she was very thorough and told me to hang out on the couch more for a few days. I had vaginal exams at my 4 and 6 week appointments as well. I figured all doctors did that, problems or not. As hard as it was for me, I would strongly suggest not to push too hard. Your body needs time to heal and you don't want to overdo. Good luck to you!

Re: Bleeding @ 5 weeks?? HELP

Beth L,
Thanks for the feedback!! Today, had a light brown discharge on pantyliner. This waiting game is trying my patience, considering being released to go back to work in a week. Co-workers are going to assume I'm 100% healed! When I KNOW I'M NOT! When I called the Dr. before regarding the 2 gushes (@ 2wks), he assured me there was no concern at all. Now being 5 weeks in recovery & the quantity of blood much less. I am reluctant on calling him back.
Hope you are healing & resting well!!
Thanks HysterSister

Re: Bleeding @ 5 weeks?? HELP

Sounds like you are healing. Light brown is healing. I am very surprised your Dr has not done a vaginal exam to ensure that everything is healing properly. That strikes me as odd. I know every physician is different, but really? No internal check for proper healing?

I am so glad you are feeling better. If you have any doubts or questions please call your Dr and insist on better service. You are the client after all.

Re: Bleeding @ 5 weeks?? HELP

I had davinci on December 2. I am 5 weeks post Op. I still have spotting. Some days more than other days. I have been treated 3 times with silver nitrate on the cuff and have had an internal exam to make sure everything is in tact. I still spot everyday but noticed today it was turning brown. My doc says its completely normal and I shouldn't worry. But I still do. Can't help it. Just wish it would go away so I can go on with my life. I feel like I am suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome or something. Everytime I check my panties its either a sigh of relief or I feel traumatized, depending on what I find. I just know that God and I have gotten real close through this ordeal.. hope you get some answers from your doctor. It seems like they all have different opinions. My doc says 8weeks no sex and only lift 5lbs. So I am sticking with what she says. I still don't feel right at 5 weeks. I know this sounds weird but I feel like my body mourns the loss of her womb..

Re: Bleeding @ 5 weeks?? HELP

Goldendoodle
I have read so many sisters have been treated with silver nitrate on the cuff and have had an internal exam. I have had NEITHER!! I completely agree with you! It seems like they all have different opinions REGARDING THE SAME SURGERIES. I love this site. However, I'm starting to get really confused! Reading these post, I have more ?'s for my Dr. However, he isn't expecting me back for a YEAR!
I also understand, the surprises on undies. Days can be so different. I've always had a hard time dealing with the "unknown". Guess this isn't any different!
Your emotions are def. normal! If it wasn't for this site, I would be C-R-A-Z-Y! My DH has been wonderful however, he still is a MALE. And has NO CLUE what us sisters have went through!! Praying for you sweetie! Hope you feel better soon!Rest & Take care!
