The Magic Words

You are cleared to return to normal life .. its been what I have been waiting to hear. I am 5 weeks tomorrow and had my last appointment today where DR has signed me off to return to everything I had on my list.

I have had a relatively easy recovery, no bleeding at all and pain only when I was meant to be having a period but every now and again odd tweaks and twinges and the lovely SWELLY BELLY.

I had 2 huge worries pre surgery:

1. Recovery time - I am very active and didn't want to miss out on the snow season. Doctor told me 2-4 weeks based on my fitness and body but everyone else said no way, 6-8 weeks and even then you will not be allowed on the slopes even when cleared for exercise .... I asked today if I can tear any internal stiches and he said no, by this time even though stiches still around they can not be torn, pains and aches are just everything re-wakening

2. The Scar (I know very vain)
I have so many scars from previous surgeries (sports related, breast reduction etc) that I really didn't want another scar and begged him to try vaginally. Sadly due to size of fibroids (5 lbs or just over 2kilos removed) he said no. I can honestly not believe the scar, my doctor should have gone into plastic surgery, its 15 inches but at worse looks like a cat scratch only 5 weeks later. 10 surgeries and have never seen such neat work before. I was released with 1 stitch, no glue, no bandages and no covering (you can imagine the worry) but its obviously the way to go (can't believe an organ was taken out through such a neat almost gone thin pink line)

Now thats it all done I can't believe how much I worried and questioned my decision. For everyone still on the recovery path the end does arrive sooner or later.

Anyway ladies this site has helped with so many worries and questions and just to read other peoples stories and know we are all going this together.

Good luck with all your recoveries xx

Sorry that wasn't meant to come across as smug just hope that there is good recovery as well as complicated recovery out there as we often read that Internet forums tend to be accessed only for when surgeries and such have complications.
