Monday is the day

Well I got the call for the time of my surgery on Monday January 9 at 7:30 a.m. I am really happy to have it so early in the morning. I am getting a little nervous. I know this is the right decision. I am really looking to feeling like myself again. It has been so long I am not really sure that that is tho, lol.

I am worried about the time off from work I will need after the surgery. My boss half jokingly thinks I will return by the end of the week, FRIDAY!!!! I was hoping to return to half days in a weeks time. Am I crazy???

Re: Monday is the day

Please give yourself time to heal JenF. Obviously your Dr will advise you but most people are told to have four to six WEEKS off - not DAYS!! Your body will be working really hard and you only have one chance to heal properly. You will need to take good care of yourself afterwards.

Of course you are nervous about your surgery. I can honestly say that modern pain management is amazing and the strongest "pain" I felt was a mild discomfort at most and that was immediately after the surgery.

Remind yourself why the surgery is necessary and look forward to a pain free life (once you have given yourself time to heal).

Good luck and see you on the other side of your operation.

Re: Monday is the day

You are not crazy, but keep in mind it depends on what kind of job you have, and what type of hysterectomy you have. I will have the de vinci on the 24th, I am 25, and I go to school full time, work part time as a preschool para, and have two kids under the age of two. I will be back in one week or so.

Re: Monday is the day

Ladies please give yourself time to heal. Your body will be your best guide. The incision healing time may be shorter with dvh, but your internal parts will on a different schedule. I know you have a life to live, but as we all love to say around only have on chance to heal correctly.

Best wishes with your surgery!

Re: Monday is the day

I am having da vinci on the 10th. My ob/gyn said I would only be a week out of work. I am taking at least 3 weeks. Maybe more if needed!! I am the sole income in our house, and only have 8 paid days left. We are paying bills ahead of time...just in case. I am going to take the time to not want any set backs.
