Surgery in 10 days - the jitters are hitting

Hello all,

My surgery is in 10 days, (birthday in 11 - happy 42 to me!) and I'm starting to get antsy. Not about the surgery itself (yet...), but more about what needs to be accomplished before that.

This is a venting more than anything else. I just finished my "To-Do" list for the next few days and I'm feeling a wee bit overwhelmed. I don't know how many other women feel like a good rant every now & then helps to put things in perspective, and I don't usually indulge, but wow, things are just a little over the top right now.

Let's see... what all do I have going on?
  • Finishing up basic financials for two organizations (the campground my husband & I run, and a non-profit that I volunteer for) so both places can get their end of year payroll reports, W2's, 1099's, and sales & use taxes filed. Neither is too bad, but still...

  • My house is a complete & total wreck. At least, that's how I'm perceiving it right now. It may have something to do with the pile of laundry in my dining room right this very moment.

  • I want to try to have at least 3 weeks worth of dinners in the freezer

  • I still need to get my room ready for me not being all that agile & mobile

  • My mother is visiting and she just showed me a spot on her leg that is going to be removed this Wednesday, at a hospital 400 miles away. It looks for all the world like melanoma, but there's no way to tell by looking how deep it runs. She is super worried about it, and she's a bit of a fatalistic drama queen. My sister is even more of a fatalistic drama queen, which could be why Mom hasn't told her about it yet.

This is what has sent me over the top. I'm still processing this news and while I'm a lot calmer about stuff than either my mom or sister, this is still not a warm fuzzy feeling.

  • And to top it off, I can't find my wedding rings. *sigh* I'm praying they'll show up in the mad cleaning binge that is going to happen this weekend, but they're really the least of my worries at this point.
On the bright side:
  • I got up on the top side of the grass today.

  • I do have an appointment on Monday with my massage therapist for one more deep tissue massage before surgery. I'm looking forward to that - I *really* need it, haha!

  • I have my pre-op appt. at the hospital on Tuesday, making it possible for me to go for Mom's surgery on Wednesday.

  • My allergy shots are Wednesday morning, and the office is an hour away. The good news is that it is an hour in the right direction, so when I get out of that appointment, I'll only have 5 hours to drive instead of 6.

  • My husband is awesome and will do everything he can to help me, even though he is working 12 hour shifts 5 out of the next 6 days. Then he's off until a week & a half after my surgery.

So, I'm going to take a deep breath & re-examine my TO DO list and see what can be delegated and what can be taken off the "High Priority" list. It all seems "HP" when you first make the list, doesn't it? I can already scratch one item, which is ordering the way cool belly binder with the gel packs - I did that before coming to the forum. Yeeha!

Okay, it is after 2:30 in the morning. I'm going to go get a load of laundry in the washer, then call it a night. I'll get started on the rest of the "TO DO" list in the morning and cross off one thing at a time.

Thanks for listening to me rant. It is greatly appreciated, and I feel much better about the next few days.

Grins,

You will get it all taken care of....breathe. It is going to be fine. I was like that too. My surgery is the 10th, and I am a little more comfortable with all of this. Take care!! Prayers are with you.

Moto: i too am scheduled for the 17th LAVH/BSO and have been nervous as all heck since the day i scheduled. I have been tackling my very long to do list for several weeks now and still have much to do. Wishing us both an uneventful but successful surgery and a painless speedy recovery.
