Re: Extremely nervous

OMG, I was so there! I remember not being able to think about anything else. I cried and cried because I wasn't sure what to expect. It wasn't so much being put to sleep {I did have concerns about it} but the pain I would experience once it was over. Thankfully, there wasn't much. Hystersisters helped me a lot, I learned so much here that help me deal with the expected and unexpected. Like, not denying myself pain medication.

Right after surgery, the med's started. When I awoke from surgery, I didn't feel pain, I was started on morphine once I got to my room. It was taken away early the next morning. From there I was given high dosage of some kind of mortin, thru IV and lortabs {I believe} every 2 hours afterwards. I was also sent home with lortabs and mortin.

all in all, the pain medication was wonderful, I liked that it made me sleep, I was able to rest. If you have fear or can't tolerate pain medication it may be a different story, lol

As far as being put to sleep, think of it like this...at least you won't feel anything, LOL

and don't worry that you won't wake up from it...YOU WILL!!!!

best wishes,

Re: Extremely nervous

I'm feeling the same way. Scheduled 1/23/12. I'm not nervous about being under (you really don't know your even under until you wake up in recovery). I'm nervous about recovery. My wonderful husband will be by my side but I'm stubborn and hate asking for help and from what I'm learning here I'm going to need it! I'm also tired of hearing you'll be so happy you did this! Does anyone else want to just scream when someone says that?

Re: Extremely nervous

Dawn,

While I truly understand being apprehensive, when someone says you'll be happy you did it, it's true. It's really the only words of comfort that someone who's been through it can offer.
