This time next week...

I will be a full day into my recovery and I am completely freaking out!
I'm having TVH with posterior repair, episiotomy repair, mesh sling and a cystectomy of the labia. I'm stressed about all the usual stuff... Sex, pain and not waking up!

I'm trying to keep myself busy, have a flat out couple of days at work Monday and tuesday, Wednesday to tidy up the home stuff, Thursday bowel cleanse (joy) and Friday surgery.

Basically I'd love to hear some happy ending stories from any ladies with all or some of these procedures before I go completely bananas!

Re: This time next week...

So far my recovery has been great. I overdid it a couple of times, without realizing and paid for it. All things considered I feel great. I did not have as much work done as you will. Mine was a straight forward SAH. It was however only 9 weeks after abdominal removal of a grapfruit size rt ovary along with fallopian tube. My nurse practitioner told me to plan on an 8 week recovery due to the two abdominal surgeries in a short period of time. Haven't been cleared for sex yet. Counting down the weeks. All I can think is it's going to be great. And bonus! No more periods to plan my life around.

Best of luck with surgery. See you in post-op!

Re: This time next week...

I had a TAH BSO, and was in the hospital for a little more than three days (typical for that surgery).

My recovery took some time. I was out of work for three weeks and went back part time for four weeks. The extreme fatigue is was took me most by surprise. During my recovery, I took things slow, did my frequent walks, and got lots of help from DH for things like cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc. I did a lot of resting, and just paced myself. I still have not fully gained my stamina. For most surgeries, healing 100% takes close to a year.

My advice to you is to listen to your body. Don't overdo it and don't push. When your body says rest, then you should rest. Become the during your recovery.

Good luck to you.
