Top 5 Must Haves!

Ok, so I thought I'd start a list of everyone's must haves for in the castle and then at home after. I keep having the "what if's", and being the OCD nut job that I am, I need a list to make sure all bases are covered for any needs that may arise.

So far mine are...
1. Mumus (I don't know how well I'll be able to bend over to put on pajama pants, so I'll just be a fuzzy/floral nightmare for a couple of weeks. Oooh La La!)

2. Long reach comfort wipe. (Found it on Amazon for $7. That's prolly TMI, but we all gotta wipe without stretching right?)

3. Shower and beside the toilet support bars. (Nuff said)

4. Grabber thingie. (For when I can't bend over to pick something up)

5. New slippers that slide on. (Gotta look pretty no matter what. Maybe I'll get matching slippers to go with my horrid mumus, lol!)

OK, so what about everyone else? There's gotta be loads of things that make our time in the castle and especially our recovery at home easier. My hubby will be home the first week with me, so I feel lucky to have him help. But there's just some things us gals gotta do on our own.

Re: Top 5 Must Haves!

Your items seem great KimT. The only advice I would offer you is cut your toenails nice and short - I am so glad I got this advice before my operation

A nice loose pair of elasticated waist trousers (pants) and some lovely "big girl" knickers are also handy!!

Well done on being so positive and organised.

I'm wondering if I need one of those awful donut ring things? I'm thinking back to post labor for comparison - sure wish I had one then!

I'm having episiotomy repair and labial cystectomy along with TVH, sling and posterior repair - I seem to remember the original episiotomy being very uncomfortable.

Not too much of a problem though.. I can send hubby out for one if I need it... In fact I might send him anyway just to see exactly how embarrassed he gets!

Re: Top 5 Must Haves!

I had a TVH with bladder repair... It was not that bad at all... As soon as they pulled the cather out I got straight up to shower... Stretch pants will be fine...With a TVH your belly isn't that sore at all... I bend at the knees and it has not hurt yet... I did not have an episositmy with this surgery, but with my first child I had 56 stitches inside and out... I rem using betadine and water in a squirt bottle every time I used the bathroom... If it was not for being so tired/ weak I would forget I had surgery Good Luck!!!

Re: Top 5 Must Haves!

I wasn't sure how to spell it, but I rem the relief it gave me... This surgery (other than being tired) was not as bad as I thought it would be... I had surgery on a Tues, and I was able to attend a Christmas gathering on Sat and enjoy myself... I went shopping the following Mon ( not carrying bags)... The main thing to rem is no lifting, no sweeping, no vacuuming, no pushing shopping carts, and things of that nature... You can walk as much as you can, but be sure to rest an equal amount of time... Do not forget stool softener ( I use colace)... I took it from day one regardless... Good Luck!!!
