Is it normal to pee when laughing? I know its normal to feel embarressed!

Hi! I had a Vaginal Hysterectomy on December 2, 2010. I needed a Hysterectomy due to excessive bleeding (had my period from Feb 2010 until my Hysterectomy). They found some fibroids and tumors that luckily were not cancerous. I am not taking any estrogen because my Dr told me to naturally hit menapause and not put it off... get it overwith he said. This whole thing is confusing to me because I feel like I am walking around dumbfounded with what has happened to me. I am now 46. I am soooooo embarressed because 2x now I literally peed my pants when I laughed. It wasnt a drizzle, it was a full pee and I could not stop. I have been doing keggles ever since my surgery and I dont know what to do. Has anyone gone thru this and can you tell me what helped you? Thankyou in advance.

Hi No, it's not normal to pee when laughing, but it is, sadly, pretty common.

Even if you are not using systemic HRT, you may benefit from some vaginal estrogen along with those Kegel exercises. If your current doctor is not willing to help you in this way, I'd be looking for a new doctor who understands the role estrogen replacement plays in urogenital health once the ovaries are removed.

Hi
No, it's not normal, but it is fairly common. I had this problem before my hysterectomy and repairs. I recommend a visit with a urologist. There are many things that can be done for incontinence. For the past 14 months since my surgery it's been wonderful to not leak at all.
Good luck.
