Re: Long drive from hospital? Any tips?

I had a smiliar drive, had pillows at the ready, but really was fine, no issues.

.. well except the insane craving for Taco Bell, we had to take a detour to go there! :-O

Re: Long drive from hospital? Any tips?

I had an hour and a half drive home after my TVH, my only real pain was GAS but OMG it was bad. The bumps sucked as well. My advice would be to let the nurse and doctor know that you have this long drive upon discharge and ask for pain medication and nausea medication on your way out the door of the hospital. Maybe you will be medicated enough to go to lala land or even doze off for the ride home. ALSO have some Gas X in the car in case your gas gets too painful (I ate 4 Gas X strips on the ride home).

Good luck to you and dont freak out too bad, it's not as bad as you think its going to be (I was sooooo freaked out, now I kinda laugh at the extent of my pre op fear of pain and etc). Feel free to msg me if you need an ear or someone whos been through it already.

Re: Long drive from hospital? Any tips?

I feel so blessed that my hospital is only 10 min away, and no potholes. Although murphys law says the rare one that doesnt exist yesterday, my hubby will find! I worry the most about getting in, and out of my car, a minivan.

Re: Long drive from hospital? Any tips?

I had to ride 2 hours to my moms house less than 12 hours after my davinci hysterectomy. The bumps were pretty rough. Definitely use a pillow between you and the seatbelt. Take that little tub thing they give you in the hospital in case you have to throw up. I didn't but I felt like it several times. Make sure you have your pain meds near you. Mine were in the trunk and I was hurting by the time we got there. It really isn't that bad. Good luck and try not to worry!!!
