Am I doing too much?

I know I just had major surgery and frankly I am surprised at how good I feel, but i am worried I am doing too much. I have had no problems with stairs. I have been staying in the living room with the family during the day and the bathroom is up a flight of stairs. Granted I'm a bit slow on the stairs. I stood and helped make dinner by stirring at the stove. I even managed to eat at the table tonight. I have been able a few times to pick stuff off the ground. So my question is, if I'm not feeling any pain or discomfort am I okay doing these things? I am quick to stop them and sit when I do feel discomfort. I am making sure I'm not lifting over ten pounds or doing any pulling or tugging. Thanks for any insight! I know I only heal once and want to do it right. My only discomfort right now is GAS!

Re: Am I doing too much?

Your body will let you know quickly if you are over doing it. If you are watching what you lift, and taking breaks, and feeling well, I say more power too you. Just listen to your body. Once I started getting at it again, I felt pretty great too. You don't want to lay and rest indefinately, cause it will be much harder to regain your strength.

Re: Am I doing too much?

Try GasX. Walking is also good for the gas. I found putting a pillow under my bottom and lying like that for about 10 minutes helped shift the gas into a less painful place.

If you aren't hurting then you are doing fine. You will find that some days are harder than others and what you can do today you may not be able to do tomorrow. Just listen to your body.
