Re: Post Op work clothes ideas?

I'll be in my Air Force uniform. Hoping the pants won't be too tight. Y'all had a good idea about maternity outfits. Maybe one of the girls at work would have a pair of maternity pants I can borrow. Otherwise I think it will be rather miserable..

Re: Post Op work clothes ideas?

I did it! Bought a belly band! I haven't tried it with my dress pants but so far so good! I tried it with the stretchy capris and it looks promising. I will report back tomorrow.

I did however pick up awesome kakis. They have belly friendly pants that look like regular pants with the exception of the 2" elastic waistband the sits wonderfully on the tummy (doesn't even look like mat pants). Although they are not 'power suit' material they are perfect 'business casual'. I found a dressy jacket that has a little extra tummy room and actually closes YEAH!!!!

The sales representative reminded me that many girls take the bottom of the belly band and pull it down a bit to give the outfit a layered look. She suggested considering different colour options ie white if I had a white tank layered under a shirt or sweater

I think this will be a great solution! Thank you for the suggestion! :-)

Re: Post Op work clothes ideas?

I wear scrubs, so I guess I am really lucky here.

I am so glad you got the band that works for so many on here.

I was going to suggest low rise slacks-I only ever buy low rise jeans, khaki's, dress slacks (usually JC Penny's) as I don't have a big or tiny waist, but it's much nicer/more comfortable for sure.

I thought I could hold out and not have to buy new clothes but alas, my belly dictates a 2 size increase if I want fitted clothing (and then other parts of the clothing are too big). I look for elasticized clothes and have luck finding less attractive casual options. I am in an executive business role and can't look under dressed. I am so close to going to a maternity store - at least in that store they have room for my belly LOL

I am in Canada and winter can be mighty cold so I prefer pants but I tell you, if we could make a 'moo moo' look classy, I'd wear one!

I'd love to see what ideas my Hyster Sister have :-)
Hi there I also live in Canada and am having the same problem belly-wise. I found that Reitmans has fairly nice pants with elastic waists. They've got dress pants and cords and jeans. I am wearing the dress pants two sizes larger than normal :-(

Re: Post Op work clothes ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked @ Reitmans today and debated it. I'll check it out when I am near the store again.

No need for :-( Try to laugh @ this ... We are 2 siazes up due to swelly belly = no more visits from Aunrtie Flo! LOL

Re: Post Op work clothes ideas?

I am so lucky that I can get away with yoga pants and dressier sweats for work! I can fit into my jeans because I lost weight but the material is not comfortable in the nether region so I have to wear something soft until I heal down there. Glad the belly band works for you!

Re: Post Op work clothes ideas?

Dresses would be my first choice but it is so cold and I would have to wear stockings ... something about pulling on pantyhose just doesn't excite me ... I haven't tried on my work pants yet ... I wore a pair of jeans yesterday for a few hours ... as son as I got back home I took them off ... they fit, I didn't put on a belt, but I just felt uncomfortable after a while ... then I was feeling weird last night, had a headache & had to take motrin which I had not taken for a few days ... I think it was the combination of the pants and being on the bus and train ... too much ... but that is what I will have to go through next week when I'm back to work ...

Post Op work clothes ideas?

I just had my 3rd day back to work and this is what I have worn on 2 of the dressy days:
Day 1: Black yoga pants, black ballet flats, a dressy tee, topped off with a burnt orange trench coat. I'm dressing it all up with jewelry. Longer necklaces & earrings, help draw the eye upwards, so the attention will not be on your lower half.
Day 2: A knee length print dress with black leggings underneath ($8 at Target) and knee high leather riding boots. I threw the same trench over it and added a brown scarf, as they both matched the colors in the dress.

I have purchased several lighter weight, thigh length trench coats (Target has a few in stock now) over the years. They are great to cover your Swelly Belly (I've named mine Esther), butt or thighs!
I wear mine with jeans, wide leg trousers, yoga pants or just buttoned up completely over the leggings with a pair of knee high boots. Just remember to accessorize with jewelry or a flashy scarf to draw attention upwards.
