2nd Opinion The Good, Bad & Inbetween

Well I had my 2nd opinion appointment yesterday with an OBGYN who specializes in the Da Vinci Procedure. We started off with some good news....Yes she can perform my hysterectomy with it. YAY! Yes she feels I am a candidate to try Lupron for a while if I want, even though she can still do the procedure with how large my uterus is. YAY!

Then we fell into the bad news. She found my heart beat to be irregular and wants me to see a cardiologist. She is also worried the tubes from my kidneys to my bladder might be getting squished and causing damage to my kidneys so she wants to send me for a CAT scan that uses a contrast die. I'm worried about that test as I have heard bad things about allergic reactions and it actually causing kidney failure.

And the in between is she looked at my ultrasound results and said no your uterine lining is not overly thick, but I still want to do an endometrial biopsy because of your weight.
So despite my HUGE fear around having that test done I went a head and scheduled the biopsy for Jan 20th. Keep your fingers crossed for me sisters.

Re: 2nd Opinion The Good, Bad & Inbetween

It sounds like your doctor is being very thorough. It's sometimes hard to remember that most of the tests that are ordered by doctors are meant to confirm that we DON'T have something, not that we do. They need to make sure we don't have complications before they can go ahead with what we do need, but that can be really scary while we wait for the tests and the results.

Good luck with your tests and I hope that everything can be handled simply.
