Re: Pre surgery consult tomorrow

At the hospital I was in they had a bottle of travel sized Johnson's & Johnson's shampoo (that's all I remember). I would bring a limited amount of shower supplies if you want to feel/smell pretty.

By the time you're allowed to shower after the surgery you might be too sore/out of it to care about anything besides washing up and getting back to bed! (I know that's how I was!) :-D

Please take care,
*Hugs*

Re: Pre surgery consult tomorrow

Heather,

It's nice that you have your list of questions. I had a ton and I was comfortable with my surgeon's responses. At my post op appointment I thanked her for everything and, she thanked me for being prepared.

I was inpatient for 2 nights, 3 days. I didn't take any personal care products because I was pretty sure I wouldn't want to shower at the hospital. Honestly, I was actually scared because of all the precautions you're asked to take while showering. I figured I'd wait until I got home, where I would be more comfortable. Not to mention, there wasn't a shower in my room. I would have to travel down the hall.

However, I did shower before my surgery. I remember waking up in recovery and a nurse saying, "you smell very nice...is that vanilla" LOL

Another thing, I expected to be kind of messy after surgery, like, dried blood on my belly. There was nothing even after they took the bandages off.

Best of luck
