Did your mini-periods disappear?

Hi Everybody.

I had a subtotal laparoscopic hysterectomy in August. I was told my mini-periods should eventually disappear. Has this been true for anyone? Could anyone let me know how long it took for theirs to disappear? Would it somehow be less likely for mine to go away because of my age (22)?

Thank you all!

Re: Did your mini-periods disappear?

I was also told mine would gradually disappear and they did! At around 2-3 years post-op. Although I was twice your age when they faded, I wasn't given the impression that age had anything to do with it.

At your young age, however, you do obviously have the potential for many years of this but I suggest (if they're not interfering with your life too much right now) that you wait and see. I was also told that the first 6 - 12 months would be the "worst" ~ and they were! Hopefully, you'll be pleasantly surprised as time goes on.

I'm sending positive thoughts!

Re: Did your mini-periods disappear?

Thank you pooodle, your reply made me feel a little better.

My mini-periods have so far been hardly noticeable, only leaving a few superficial spots on my underwear. I don't even wear liners. But I would much rather they went away, though I told myself I would wait a year before deciding anything.

Before surgery I was not aware this could happen, and I was so looking forward to living life without any reminders of menstruation. My family doctor told me none of her other patients who kept their cervices have had this happen, but they were all older (which is why I asked about age). But I'm happy enough right now, it has not been impractical at all so far.

By any chance, could the mini-periods get WORSE over time? That would be devastating!
