Never had post surgery bleeding

I had an emergency abdominal hystectomy on new years day. I spent five days prior to the surgery in the hospital (uterine abscess) and 4 days post surgery in the hospital. I've never had any vaginal bleeding since the surgery. It seems like everyone else has bleeding. Should I be alarmed or thrilled? I know she left one ovary and basically removed everything else. Maybe she sewed closed the door too!

Re: Never had post surgery bleeding

I had 2 tiny episodes of extremely light bleeding post opt most due to a little too much walking too early. Doc says that was normal. Other than that, no bleeding so lets say we are lucky!

Re: Never had post surgery bleeding

I was wondering the same thing a while back; however, I might have to go to another doctor which she probably won't like. This will be one of the questions I ask the next doctor too.

Re: Never had post surgery bleeding

It is normal to have no bleeding post surgery and then possibly some spotting a few weeks later as the internal sutures heal.

Re: Never had post surgery bleeding

It started about the second day. It's a watery, clear liquied that comes from my vargina spontaneously. I was using panty shields but had to use a pad at night. I believe its my body healing from the surgery. There has been a few times it been pinkish or brownish. I think it's when I over do things. I'm will be two weeks tomorrow LSH and feeling good.

Re: Never had post surgery bleeding

I had a slight discharge for a day or so post op. (TAH/BSO - vertical incision)....

Not a drop since. And I'm over 4 months now!

A nurse at the hospital, speaking of my surgeon, said "He sews you up real tight!", so maybe that's why I got no bleeding. Or just good luck and quick healing.

I had no problems with oozing from my incision either.

So - if you don't bleed, you're lucky, but there have been threads in the past about this and quite a lot of people have not had post-op. bleeding.

Either situation is normal, it seems.

Re: Never had post surgery bleeding

I'm three weeks today, and I've had no bleeding either. I've only had tan/brown liquid, but very little. I just wear a panty liner everyday, and there's usually just a few little spots by the end of the day.

Re: Never had post surgery bleeding

I had no bleeding and my uterus was removed vaginally. I finally had blood once when I did two much in week 4 and this week with what I assume is my sutures beginning to pass.
