??? s about Vaginal cuff that won't heal

I had TVH BSO Sept. 4, 2001. At 6 weeks, I was feeling GREAT - Dr. said I was a good healer. DH and I resumed sex - gently, slowly - everything was going well until 8 weeks post-op. After sex one night - I was in terrible pain - coudn't move, had some bleeding and my belly ballooned up. Went to ER and doc said he could see my intestines during a pelvic exam. Had surgery to re-stitch vaginal cuff - doc used industrial strength stitching. I felt fine until 6 weeks later when I had stitches removed. OUCH!!! Since then I've had pelvic pain, and when DH and I resumed sex for the first time, I had terrible pain after intercourse. Doc said he could see a small seperation of the vag cuff again.
Anybody else out there had trouble with this? I've seen "granulation" mentioned - what is it? Doc recommended daily vinegar/H2O douching to help healing. I'm afraid to resume sex again - even when I get doc's go-ahead. Will that darned "vaginal cuff" ever heal? What happens if it doesn't heal on its own? Can they do a permanent stitch or clamp or something? Thanks for any input!

I'm sorry you have had such a rough recovery....
Granulation is a kind of tissue that forms on the cuff and can cause bleeding during intercourse. It can be cauterized or the use of Silver Nitrate usually promotes proper healing. There are several women who have had this here, you can use the search icon on the top of this page and type in Granulation it will turn up several threads. I'm not sure about clamping or stitching. I would put off intercourse until I felt more comfortable about it. Did the Dr say why the pelvic pain? I hope the vinegar douche is helping some. Sorry I cant be of much help Hopefully someone will come along shortly who has experienced something similiar. Good Luck and I hope you are able to feel better soon Please keep us posted....

Doc says "go home and use it"

Well, I can't say I'm convinced - only getting "back into the saddle" will tell, but doc says the seperation in the vaginal cuff is healed he says to "go home and use it." (Dr. Smartypants)
I've told my DH that we can resume intercourse during office hours so I won't have to go to the ER if something happens! Ha. No explanation offered for pelvic pain, but since I seem to be an adhesion magnet, I'm not surprised - one of the links to obgyn.net provided valuable info on adhesions. Well, happy new year, and hoping '02 will bring healing and health! Thanks for your response!
