Who will be helping you during recovery?

I'd love to get some suggestions on what type of help I should be asking for during recovery. My work offers a service (no cost to me) to assist with things like surgery recovery. I'm just not sure about what I should be asking for... My hubby and in-laws will cover pick up and drop off of the kids to daycare/school. My hubby says he can manage ballet, skating lessons, piano lessons and birthday parties. We have a cleaning lady who comes every two weeks. I plan to do as much cooking as possible before my the only thing that keeps popping into my head is LAUNDRY. Is it silly to think I can request someone take care of our laundry? My hubby is fully capable of doing it, but I don't want him to do everything if work will cover the cost of assistance.

What would you ask for?

Re: Who will be helping you during recovery?

Beyond what you already mentioned you will need help with laundry, dishes, and shopping. Keep in mind that you will have lifting restrictions of 10 lbs for six weeks, and maybe 20 lbs for 8 weeks. So, ask for help with what comes up.

Sounds like you got all of your helpers lined up. How nice of your work to offer assistance.

Re: Who will be helping you during recovery?

Grocery shopping and extra housekeeping would be on my list.

The shopping can be a big chore some days and having help with that might be a good idea.

Your cleaner only comes in every other week, so there must be a lot you do in between. Extra cleaning service that includes laundry help would be a bonus until the doctor clears you for normal activity. Vacuuming, sweeping and mopping are usually off limits for about a month. Should you experience any complications, it could be longer than that.

With your husband playing taxi service for school and extra-curricular activities, preparing meals and doing dishes, he would probably appreciate it, too.

Seems like you've got everything pretty much covered and I'm jealous - I would have loved those kind of work benefits! Enjoy!
