Re: 4 weeks post op

i had my LAVH Dec 15th. 6 weeks tomorrow. I have had vaginal discharge from day 1. mine has never been bright red, more pinkish brownish. but, seems like I should be stopping it by now. i think today may have been the lightest so far, so maybe it is going to get better. but, not sure why some of you never have any discharge? should I call Dr if it doesn't stop soon?

I would...can't hurt! It will at least ease your mind.

Re: 4 weeks post op

I had the same prob with dark brown discharge. At 3 weeks my doc did a SN treatment ( which was not bad at all), and everything has been good since.

Re: 4 weeks post op

Dr. visit results....she treated me for the 2nd time with silver nitrate and said this should stop it completely because it's not as bad as the last time. This is what she explained that is happening....the vaginal cuff is what is bleeding in one spot. The stitches have desolved but where they were once located is not healed. It's kinda like a sore you have on the skin of your arm but because the wound is located inside your body, it cannot create a scab and heal like a wound on the skin of your arm. Therefore it can bleed with even the slightest touch. The silver nitrate is used to cauterize the wound so that it will heal. I asked her what I should do if it doesn't stop bleeding because I have been through this already. She said that if I am still bleeding come Monday, I will need to be seen by her again. Then they will pack me full of gauze with the medicine for 24 hours. That's the only detail I got with that. Hopefully it will not come to that! (fingers crossed and saying prayers) I hope this makes sense and helps!

Re: 4 weeks post op

thank's for the info everyone! I saw my Dr. at 3 weeks post op but knew the discharge was normal for that time. I was gone for 2 weeks to my daughters, so just kept putting up with it. Yesterday and today finally seem to be a little better, so maybe it is going to get better on its own. I still have a very tired and sore back if I stand too long. Am going back to work Mon. so hope that gets better. I am 6 wks post op today! Brighteyes, I hope your treatment works this time! Take care everyone!

Re: 4 weeks post op

2/7/12 back to the doctor! She knocked out most of the bleeding last visit but there is still some very little bleeding left. Come to find out, I have a yeast infection and a bacterial infection. Now taking 2 antibiotics. She also did an ultrasound and treated me again (3rd time) with silver nitrate. Her nurse stated that having the infections was stopping the healing process. Hopefully this time will be the last dealing with this...fingers crossed!
