Weird Breast Pains

Hi
I don't know if this is normal or what? 3 weeks post op I started getting these weird pulling pains in both my breasts. Sometimes it is sharp pricking or pulling or both. Also accompanied by Pricking pain to breast bone. The pulling resembles a babies sucking, just deep and painful. As if the pain radiates from the milk glands or ducts.
Any information on this?

Re: Weird Breast Pains

Mention this to your DR at your next visit, but most likely it's fibrocystic breast condition. It tends to be hormonally triggered and is very common in perimenopausal and menopausal women. It's completely benign, but can be uncomfortable. Natural progesterone can sometimes help minimize the discomfort.

I hope this helps.

Hi Linda
Thanks for the info will have it looked up when I get my next visit with Dr. I don't feel menopausal I kept my ovaries. Should it still happen if you had a hysterectomy but still have ovaries?

Thanks

Re: Weird Breast Pains

It can... sometimes the ovaries don't perform quite the same after the uterus is removed because the surgery cuts some of the blood supply to the ovaries.

Re: Weird Breast Pains

OH Dear. Like leaving the ovaries suppose to be the best idea and then you still get a chance of it not working lol! I was just worried coz my sis was diagnosed wth Breast Cancer she got discharged from hospital yesterday and I still don't know the stage of the cancer! So this breast thing really got my gastric reflux flaring. What does 1 take to get the ovaries working? Can such a thing be done?

Re: Weird Breast Pains

Sometimes they resume working normally in time, if they can establish a new blood supply. Since you're not having other symptoms (that you mention, anyway), yours are probably going to be fine. Try not to worry too much, just mention the breast pain to your DR at your next appointment.
