Yes minimize the caffeine - it prevents body from absorbing magnesium which aids in digestion. If you already take vitamins, add a magnesium supplement. In a pinch, have either Milk of Magnesia or magnesium citrate handy in case you feel a real need to 'get things moving'.

Note: it took a couple of days after surgery for my bladder to 'wake up' and start working normally. I suspect my bowels needed to revive also because even though I wasn't constipated, digestion was even more sluggish than usual. I've dosed 3 times with Milk of Magnesia during the 5 weeks after surgery, and at this point feel I've got the situation under control.

Favorite 'fiber' foods:

1) chick peas (one can of chick peas contains 100% RDA for fiber)
2) steamed veg/rice side dishes. My dinner tonight will probably be one of the Steamfresh selections with some tuna
3) bananas, apples, figs
4) oatmeal or a bran muffin
