So tired/feeling guilty

I have a wonderful husband who helps me a lot! But I still feel guilty when I say "did you put the clothes in the dryer?" or you know all know something that most husbands forget about (get the dry clothes out & fold them) LOL
I feel good enough that I should be doing the chores myself instead of asking him or our kids to do it. Guilty is ugly!
Plus I am so tired all the time, no matter how much sleep I get at that normal? I'm on day 5, I had a DVH kept my ovaries.
When does the tiredness go away??? Thank you all!!

Re: So tired/feeling guilty

You shouldn't feel guilty at all!! You are healing! It is time for your family to take care of you for awhile. Sometimes, unfortunately, men need a little reminder, but there is nothing wrong with that.

It is completely normal that you are feeling tired. You may not even have all of the anesthesia out of your system yet and if you are still on any narcotic pain killers, you will feel tired and groggy.

I know you say you feel good enough that you could be doing some chores yourself....just be careful. You do not want to over do it and set your recovery back. You will have days where you feel fabulous and other days, you will wake up feeling horrible. That is completely normal, so it is important to take it easy even on the days you feel great.

The most important thing right now is YOU and your recovery. So sit back, let your husband worry about the chores, and you worry about pampering the

Take care of yourself and in the rest of your recovery!!

Re: So tired/feeling guilty

Don't feel guilty. You just had major surgery, not gallbladder surgery.

I don't know about when you will feel better from DvH but I will tell you my tiredness finally went away about 4 1/2 months post op. My doctor told me to not be alarmed it it took a full 12 months. Some women's bodies react differently to surgery.

And remember, just because you had a less invasive surgery, we all still heal internally at about the same rate. It takes roughly 6-12 months to completely heal internally. The only difference between TAH, DvH LAH, LAVH, is the size of the external scar......... that's it. You should "feel" better sooner but you will not be "healed" any sooner.

Hang in there. 'S

Re: So tired/feeling guilty

Thank you for reassuring me! I never thought about it the way Keltc said, just because I "feel" better soon, doesn't mean I'm "healed" any sooner. Good point! And it is the size of the external scar that's different than other surgeries.

Re: So tired/feeling guilty

I too feel really guilty not doing the things I have always done. I'm just one week post op lavhbso. I feel like no one understands that I don't feel well. I was a lively, energetic woman before this but now I feel like a crying, whining, weak woman.

Re: So tired/feeling guilty

Yes that's me! I am always picking up after my kids & my hubby he does help around the house even when I'm not down its usually 50/50. But I keep telling them that they had NO idea how much I really do for them.
I feel the same way that no one really "gets" that I don't feel good or that I really should NOT be doing some things. I said I wanted a mani/pedi to pamper myself..hubs looked at me with a smile like "why" what have you done?" look.
I may not look like I just had major surgery thank you davinci but I sure as hell feel like it! Sorry for venting he is a great husband but sometimes geesh. I feel everyone in my house is "tired" of me talking about how I "feel". UGH
