Constipation

Had dVH on 1/12. I still have not gone. Tried enima(oil) and suppositories, still nothing. Any suggestions?

Re: Constipation

Are you taking stool softeners? I was told to take them twice per day and I did so for 4 weeks. My first BM was on day 4 after I took some Miralax in water. You also need to drink lots of water, eat food with fiber in it and walk to get things moving along.

Re: Constipation

I also have a similar issue after surgery. I have used Miralax as per my doctor's suggestion. Use. Stool softener, and of course drink the liquids. Water is the best. But I have found after what seems like I've had gallons of the stuff, coffee helps me. I know that you are probably super uncomfortable but hang in there. It will happen. If you can really try to walk as much as possible. I just had a second surgery 11/28/12 which I used the Miralax and that really worked w/ the stool softener. I hope you get relief! If things aren't working right in that department life can be miserable. Good luck!!!🙏

Re: Constipation

Thank you all. I've had no stool softener, but I'll send for some. I'll also get prune juice for faster relief. Thanks.... Back tomorrow

Re: Constipation

I also had the same problem. I called my doctor 4 days after my surgery. She told me my body was used to moving at least 8 miles a day so get up and walk slowly. I started walking more and drank the warm prune juice or coffee. I also eat activia twice a day. That really helped. Eating more dark veggies also helped, and an apple a day!!!! Good luck to you and hope you feel better..

Re: Constipation

Hello Sisters,
I ended up back in the hospital. I could not pass stool or urine. Between the meds and a enlarged blatter, I was not going to be successful. I am home with a Foley Catheter. Good news: I am moving towards colon regularity! WHEW!!
