Bleeding post op TAH

Hi! I am wondering if it is normal to have no bleeding post op after TAH and then to suddenly have a slight bit of spotting on day 6? I had zero bleeding until today. It seemed to happen after I had a bowel movement this morning. Wondering if perhaps I strained too hard? It's not really heavy bleeding, but I did put on a light pad.

Re: Bleeding post op TAH

Hi, I'm 1 week post-op & have experienced the same thing today. Also after a bowel movement. I'm interested in hearing what other people say regarding this. I'm quite concerned that I have over done it or split a stitch. Hope you improve soon :-)

Wow! So, I am not alone. Well, I may call my Dr.'s office and just ask his nurse and see what they say. I'll let you know.

Re: Bleeding post op TAH

It is normal to have some bleeding at different times in your recovery. It is a bit less common with a TAH.

I would say that if this bleeding started after straining during a bowel movement, it might not be a bad idea to go ahead and call your doctor. He may just tell you that if you are not bleeding heavily, you will be fine, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

I hope it is nothing to worry about. Let us know what you find out.

to you

Re: Bleeding post op TAH

Nurse called me back and says it is most likely nothing to worry about. She says it is not uncommon to have some bleeding. So no worries unless it is very heavy bleeding like a period or more.
