REALLY worried @ 7 weeks- STILL vaginal pressure

I am becoming VERY worried now about this feeling I continue to have that something is in my vagina....like a heaviness or swelling. I have had it since day 1. In the beginning it felt like something huge was coming out....but now it is more up inside and not quite as prominent...but still uncomfortable and unnerving.

I can understand feeling this 2, 3 and even 4 weeks out due to swelling....but still at 7 weeks?? I had my 6 week checkup last week and the doctor checked and said I was healing nicely and that she didn't know why I was having this feeling. So what is it???

I'm paranoid about prolapse. I've read so many posts on this site about women with this same feeling and they get the "everything is ok" from their docs and then in their posts 5 or 6 months later...they in fact ended up with a prolapse that their docs didn't initially diagnose.

I had a diVinci surgery and everything was taken out vaginally. So I no longer have a cervix, but kept my ovaries. I've never had kids and I'm physically fit and not overweight at 51 yrs old. I'm having zero issues with peeing or pooping.

Please, anyone with any ideas, similar experience, advice?

Thanks.

Hello Chilitiger,
I had that same feeling weeks after my surgery and found that wearing panty girdles really helped me, I no longer have that feeling but I still wear the panty girdles for work or if I am going to be on my feet for a long time, just make sure they are lightweight I found mine at Walmart and they were only about $3 a pair, really helped me to get over that "falling out of myself" feeling

Re: REALLY worried @ 7 weeks- STILL vaginal pressure

I had that same feeling and I had a TAH. I was so scared I had a prolapse. Went for my 6 week check up. She found nothing and also didn't know why I felt that way.

The only thing she could think of is maybe I was doing too much too soon. After laying around the house for several days it went away. I mean LAYING around and doing NOTHING. It did reaccur when I'd apparently over done things..............laundry, light mopping, folding clothes, bending often, etc. I didn't think I was doing too much since I was 6 weeks post op, but my body did.

So, I suggest laying around for a minimum of 3 days and see how you feel afterward. If it doesn't go away, go back to the doctor.

Thank you both for your suggestions....I will try both!

I sometimes think my constant worrying about this problem is hindering my recovery.

Try not to worry, trust me it will be O.K. and I said I worried a lot for no reason, that is why I still come back to this site to encourage other "sisters" - we are here for you, Blessings

Re: Really worried @ 7 weeks-still vaginal pressure

Jackiej43,

Thank you very much. It's funny, I was talking to my husband the other day about how scared I was about prolapse because I keep reading posts on this site about it, and he said.....well that's because people who have recovered normally (which he keeps trying to drill into my head, is the vast majority) are out living their lives and no longer posting here.

I told him, because of the over the top worry and anxiety that I have had about this for the last 7 weeks, that I will be someone that comes back here to help other anxious post-op women like myself in the future.

Your taking time to respond to my post is greatly appreciated and has helped to calm some of my fear. Thanks again.

That is what "sisters" do for each other, and your husband is right my husband said the same thing to me, he kept saying I should stop coming here because it made me worry about things that were not happening to me, but now that I am just about fully recovered I do not want to abandon my other "sisters" who are just starting on this journey.
Blessings to you !!!

Re: Really worried @ 7 weeks-still vaginal pressure

Just wondering if resting helped with the "feeling of pressure"?

Keltec resting and staying off your feet does help along with wearing the panty girdles, I don't get the pressure feeling so much anymore now that I am three months post-op but I still get tired after being on my feet too long and by about 7pm I am off my feet in bed for the night - try to have only activities that I can do lying down , reading my kindle or watching movies etc.

Re: Really worried @ 7 weeks-still vaginal pressure

Hi Keltec...I did the resting thing as much as I could, but I had some issues come up with a sick mother in law and I was the only one around to help (trip to the hospital with her, trips to the doc and to pick up prescriptions........so I absolutely was not able to get "complete" rest. So here I am still with that feeling. I have an appt with my doctor tomorrow. I will see what she has to say and check back in here.

Thank YOU for checking back!
