Howdy HysterSisters-Introduction

Hello. I'm Lisa, 37 years old. I am scheduled to have a DaVinci laparascopic hysterectomy. I will be leaving my ovaries. Unsure on the cervix. I have adenomyosis and very painful, prolonged, heavy periods. My doctor and I have tried every more conservative approach over the last couple of years and it's only getting worse. So, here I go with the hysterectomy. I'll be glad to get some relief when this is done. It's amazing how having these kinds of issues affects your life in so many different areas.

I am very interested in pre-op preparations right now since I have just a little over a week to get things together!

Anyway, Just wanted to introduce myself. I appreciate your support and tips/tricks.

Re: Howdy HysterSisters-Introduction

Good like to you sounds like our issues are exactly alike. I am finally at 6 weeks post op and I feel great. Feels weird to know I won't have a period again but I can say I will not miss it one bit.

Can't offer u very many pre-op tips all I did was clean and do all the laundry to get ready. Afterwards it was nice to just relax and my kids and hubby take over!!! No it's back to the grind!!! No excuses now.

Take it easy and listen to your body. Oh and one more thing get a belly band check and see if your doctor can order you one so you don't have to pay for it. I got mine at the hospital before discharge it really helped me.

Re: Howdy HysterSisters-Introduction

Hi! I am having my LAVH hysterectomy on the same day! I have done slot of prep, but mainly because i will be recovering by myself. I got a grabber so i could pick up stuff off the floor. I have been making freezers meals. Stocking up on fiber (i hear bm's is a prov for lots of people post op) moving things so they are easier to reach. Got a peewee pillow pet, i hear there great to guard your stomach from the seat belt and also for support when laughing, coughing, etc

Hope you have a uneventful surgery and smooth recovery. See ya on the other side!

Tina
