Tentative February 8th date for Hysterectomy.

I will know for sure Monday when the Doctor is in so the surgery scheduler can talk to her. I don't know what type of surgery I'm having that I find out i'm sure Monday as well. For now they gave me a tentative date.
My parents and Fiance will be there which comforts me. I will stay one night at the hospital and leave in the morning if everything is alright. It's standard where I am to keep somebody 23-24 hours after having a Hysterectomy.

I'll just be happy I won't have to worry about another painful period and so many other problems.

The doctor is the sixth opinion I have recieved professional wise.

I will keep you all informed more on Monday when I have the exact date.

It is good to have other people with you when talking to your doctor. I am so glad you have a wonderful support network. Take care.... I know this is so tough.

Re: Tentative February 8th date for Hysterectomy.

Hi. In the scheme of things, this may seem irrelevant, but I wish someone had told me:

1. Bring sweatpants or something to wear home after surgery. I brought what I thought was loose fitting pants, and there was NO CHANCE those things were going to button. Luckily I had a long shirt. I wasn't prepared for the swelling/bloating.

2. Another thing I didn't know about until the pre-op appointment was the need to do a bowel cleanse the day before the surgery. THANKFULLY my doc let me off the hook with that one.

3. The only other thing that I can think of right now is to heed you docs advice about taking it easy. I was feeling great day 3, took a shower made some soup... that's all it took to feel awful. Rest, rest, rest! And if someone wants to help you, let them!! Even though you can do it yourself.

Wishing you well.

Re: Tentative February 8th date for Hysterectomy.

Only do a bowel cleanse if your doctor asks you to do one. They will let you know if they want one. It will be with the rest of your pre-op instructions.

The sweat pants are a great idea. I spent the better part of 12 weeks post-op in loose fitting sweat pants and old shorts, ones that had elastic only.

Re: Tentative February 8th date for Hysterectomy.

Thank you all for the support and to my fellow hyster sisters that have the same date. I had the stent from my kidney removed today, and now I'm very sick I can't stop vomiting. Thank you for the information I hope I don't have to have a lower bowel cleanse. I will see what she says next Thursday.

Re: Tentative February 8th date for Hysterectomy.

Hi Lisa, I see that you are in Phoenix. I live in Mesa. I just had my surgery on the 14th of this month. I see you mentioned a stent from your kidney removed. Do you also have kidney stones? Just curios cause I have them and I'm hoping the one I have in my right kidney can hold on until the recovery from my hysterectomy is done.

Re: Tentative February 8th date for Hysterectomy.

Hello Christal, I don't have kidney stones,I had weird tissue on my left ureter which they think is endometriosis. Having a stent is no fun I can relate. Best wishes to your recovery and getting that stent removed. Lisa
