swelling info

I have learned something the hard way and wanted to share. I had my procedure on jan 17th and 3 days post op my gential area started to swell (HUGE!!!). There was no pain down there, no discharge, no itching. I called my doctor office and the doctor had already left for the day....it was friday. The office assistance/nurse????,,,who answered the phone stated that it sounded like an yeast infection, made an appt to see me on monday and told me that if it got worse to go to the emergency room. Stated that the swelling in my gential was NOT a result of the sugery. I woke up at 4 am to use the restroom and noticed that the swelling had gotten worse and that the swelling had now traveled back to the rectum area. My husband took me to the emergency room. I met this real nice and patient doctor who explained to me that this was normal and there was nothing to worry about unless of course the swelling did not go away in a couple of weeks)....a wasted trip, time and money!

Re: swelling info

Goodness! I'm sorry you had to go through that, but thanks for sharing your expwrience with the rest of us. Even though it turned out to be a 'wasted' trip, I'm sure it was probably worth getting checked out by a doctor and getting the peace of mind.

I hope you have a speedy and healthy recovery!
