Thanks, all! At this point, I'm ready to get it over with, the anticipation is killing me. Hopefully, the surgery and after-effects won't be as bad as the worrying ahead of time is!

Re: Best Wishes to our January 24 Princesses

Sorry but I need to vent.... I have been super calm, it freaks me out how calm I have been.... Tonight my brother and sister in-law came and got my two babies Teagan (boy 2 years old) Liberty (girl 1 year old) so they can care for them while I care for me. They left tonight due to my bowl prep I start in the morning, and to avoid my mother inlaw trying to come get them in the morning (Long story but I can't trust her) When I started to pack their stuff and spend a few min. with them before saying good buy... my numbness went right out the window. I cried like a baby when they left. I am always with them, as I am a stay at home wife and mom. I chose this because when I was 3 I was beat by my babysitter.. so this helps me know that will not happen to them. I tried to work part time, but lost my job after a short time due to the hysterectomy. Anyways I freaked out. What if that was my last time kissing them? I am not a lucky person by any means (other then my amazing family) so what if I don't wake up? I will have left them at such a young age. they will never know me, have memories of me.. cuz of their age. I am not scared of the surgery and I know I'll be fine and so will the rest of my hystersisters. but the large amount of time and money I have put into my education helps me know the what can happens, and my kids are just too young for that. After my husband calmed me down and a long talk on the phone with my best friend (my mom) I am now calm... and planning a letter to my children just in case. I know this is dumb but I can't help it. I am 25 years old. I have had cancer on and off mostly on since I was 14. I have given birth to three beautiful babies. Our first passed. I think writing these letters will help assure me they will some what know me. I also think it will help keep me busy in the hours to come of the awful bowl prep and the hours before the surgery.

Re: Best Wishes to our January 24 Princesses

Your feelings are absolutely normal and there is nothing dumb at all about your reactions. I am also blessed with young children (5 and 11 yo) and shared your biggest fear about the surgery, not being here for my babies. I spent the past 2 years mostly living on the sofa from pain and trying to find the courage to have my hysterectomy. I am almost 4 weeks from my surgery date and am SOOO glad I went for it, just like you will be, too! I found great peace of mind writing letters to my family in the days before surgery, though it was VERY hard to do as you know. What I didn't expect from all this was the deepened awareness and appreciation for my loved ones. The hardest part of this whole process was absolutely without a doubt, the days leading to surgery. Write your letters, be good to yourself, do whatever you can to bring peace into your heart right now and trust that God has wonderful plans for you and your babies who obviously have a very loving and wonderful mama. I am praying for supernatural peace for you and looking forward to seeing you on the recovery threads!

Re: Best Wishes to our January 24 Princesses

Thank you very much! I just took my first bottle of the bowl prep and I already feel so sick to my stomach. I mixed it with grape gatarade to help hide the taste... but nothing can hide that taste. I am super nauseous. The hospital just called me and told me to be in there by 10am, and it should start by noon.
