pre-op week

Today is my pre-op appt with my dr. Then Wednesday i have my pre admission testing. I cant believe i will be in surgery in one week from today! Im getting anxious! Its unreal. But as my anxiety builds my grasp on being indepedant is loosing and my friends picking up. I am simplu accepting offers of help! Letting go on the idea to cook for myself or live off delivery! My closest friends with the exception of a few are the ones telling me "Tina, this IS major surgery. You will need help." Well, i hope my dr is ready for my two pages of questions. He did tell me my job was to write down all my questions before my pre op today, though i dont think he knows how thourough i am. Here goes the last week with my uterous!

Re: pre-op week

Best of luck today!

My pre-op is tomorrow, followed by an afternoon spent with the anesthesia/pre-admission folks (so thankful they scheduled both for the same day). My brain is so scattered right now I'm not sure I can come up with any questions, but I'm going to try...

Re: pre-op week

I would like to encourage you both. I did the same thing with all of the anxiety leading up to the operation not just in the last week, but for months. On the other side of it, I can truly say that I worked myself up too much unnecessarily. I had LAVH and both ovaries removed. The first few days are a little rough, but afterward, you are going to feel soooooo much better!

Yes, get as much help as you possibly can. You won't be able to do things for yourself. Make sure someone is with you for a couple of days when you come home. My husband was off work with me the day I came home. Then, other family members helped for a couple of days. The ladies from my church brought us meals for 2 weeks! We were truly blessed!

If you have any questions for me, please don't hesistate to ask. It's going to be okay. It really is.

Re: pre-op week

I'm a week and a day away, this is my last week of work. I decided I wouldn't be able to concentrate at work on the day before surgery. I have my pre-op on Thursday, it will be nice to final talk to my doctor about everything they found (she's been on maternity leave) and to just get the anesthesia/hospital stuff ready to roll. I'm having a "Dawn" day on Friday. Getting my toes done, my hair cut and a 90 minute massage. My husband and son are then taking me out to the Japanese Steakhouse here. I'm excited. And one last trip out on the boat for a bit, I hope I catch a ton of fish like I did yesterday. And then all I have to do is just recover from surgery. Work has everything covered and handled for me and school is online, so I can do it.

Re: pre-op week

I get the concentration thing! I am in a pre op daze!! It went well with my Dr today, and now just have to do the pre admission testing on Wensday. But even today my friends are commenting (not meanly) that i am in a daze, and "your fumbling for everything. You never do that!" My last day working is Friday. My boss and friends been joking "you can let the kids watch as mch Tv as they want, throw a bag of candy on the coffee table." As a nanny, i work hard in self control activities, learning activities, independent okay i allow the 3 year old to watch 30 mins of Tv a day, normally after nap. Guess we will just review our letters and their sounds, and not stress myself to teach new ones! I cant wait till this is OVER!!

Re: pre-op week

I have had my moments of anxiety before this week, but now my heart is perminently lodged in my throat!! So glad i don't need anymore exams before surgery. Tomorrow is my last big pre op day, with the pre-admission testing. Working (feeding the kids breakfast, snack, and lunch!) While i fast, already fatigued, and there taking some of my own blood to hold in case i need it during surgery. *gulp* I wish it was Monday morning now! Cant it be here already? My hands tremble everytime i think of surgery! And of course 95% of my thoughts are of surgery. Blab, I'm a mess this week!!
