Bleeding 4 weeks post op

Hi! I had a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy for fibroids weeks ago. Doc removed uterus and tubes. Tuesday, I awoke to vaginal bleeding with small clots. Was evaluated by GYN in the office and sent for ultrasound. Ultrasound found no reason for bleeding within the cervix. There was a small bit of endometrial lining, but it was a very thin. Ovaries appeared functional, with the left showing multiple follicles and cysts. Tech said it was "very fertile" and was the one that ovulated. Alo said that there were pockets of clear fluid and bits of blood near left ovary. Tech also said anytime any lining remains, it is possible to still have cyclical monthly bleeding. But it should be very light and not more than 1-2 days. The bleeding (although became very light and sporadic) persisted for 6 days.

My pre-surgery symptoms have all returned -abnormal bleeding, back pain, fatigue, bloating, and indigestion.

Dr.s office called back tonight with results. Ultrasound showed everything to be normal. No cause for the bleeding. If it returns, call them.

Could this bleeding be something to worry about? Could the original symptoms be something completely diffrenent than fibroids? If my bleeding was cyclical, then ultrasound was performed on cycle day two- why would my ovaries have multiple cysts and follicles so soon in the cycle?

Re: Bleeding 4 weeks post op

Hi there!

It's hard to tell if it's something to be concerned about at this stage, since it might be difficult to know which symptoms are post-surgery and which ones are cyclic. That might be why they said to call if it does happen again. It's reassuring that the ultrasound didn't show anything abnormal. Good question about the cysts and follicles; for all we know that is your baseline normal. Another thought is that the surgery kind of kicked that schedule around a little bit and it might take a little while to catch up with things and ease back into a regular cycle again.

Hope all goes well! Take good care of yourself and keep us posted on how you're doing!
