Re: OMG 1 week till surgery & doctor changes mind.. PLEASE reply if cervix removed!

Nyyankeelover.. Did you have painful sex befor your surgery? I am weighing my options. Both of my Aunts called today and have explained to me that neither of them had any problems after.. ever..

I have scoured this site up and down and I am starting to find more "positive" posts regarding cervix removal. Just spoke with my husband and he said "no matter what, my body is going to heal the way it is going to heal. That in the past, with the tons of surgeries I have had, I always come out ok at the other end".. He reassured me that he will go to any and all lengths to make sure I am 100% healed before he allows me to do anything (housework, take care of the kids, etc)

I am starting to feel a little better about this...

I had my cervix removed, and both intercourse and outercourse are better than ever. My hubby's first words after our first intercourse were that the doctor had not taken anything away. Over the past couple of weeks, it's just gotten better for both of us.

Re: OMG 1 week till surgery & doctor changes mind.. PLEASE reply if cervix removed!

I had a very large fibroid, and so if he went too deeply, I could feel the pressure on my cervix/uterus right up into my belly button. Not pleasant. There were a number of positions that were out of the question. Now, everything is great.

I've read elsewhere on this site that, while the vagina may be slightly shortened when your cervix is removed, it doesn't feel shorter because the space that was taken up by the cervix is now "available". Without the pressure pains, it all feels much better. My hubby thinks so, too.

Does that help? If not, ask more specific questions, and I will answer them, as I'm sure others will, too.

Re: OMG 1 week till surgery & doctor changes mind.. PLEASE reply if cervix removed!

I had TAH 7 weeks ago i kept both my ovaries i had minimal spotting...... just 2 days and no granulation issue et all.....at my 6 week check up my doc said that i am healing real nice and gave a green signal for intercourse...we tried it yesterday...and i must say that though we were really cautious initially we enjoyed it real GREAT......my O took just half the time and lasted longer than my pre TAH days.......I must admit that we feel like newly weds again i didn't need any lubricant what so ever

I turned 38 recently and was in the spot you are now i too had my doubts.....but now i say ...i am happy i agreed with my doc for no cervix too
All the best
Cheers

Re: OMG 1 week till surgery & doctor changes mind.. PLEASE reply if cervix removed!

For the most part I did not have pain while having sex before my surgery which is why I can say it has not affected my sex life in a negative way.

With that being said I also want to add that doing our research before a major operation is great. The more information we have the better however keep in mind that this wonderful site supports alot of us that have had a complication due to.surgery. We dont necessarily see as many posts about the positive outcomes of surgery. So just keep in mind that out there are probably just as many woman that havent had a single problem. The decision is difficult to make and you have to be completely confortable with it.

Good luck

Re: OMG 1 week till surgery & doctor changes mind.. PLEASE reply if cervix removed!

Oh I absolutely agree with that.. My doctor said the same thing. Most women who are not having issues are not on message boards like these and those who are and have had good results are here to help those having a hard time or to help others like myself..

I am going to keep my surgery date with my Ob oncologist so I do not lose my January 31st date. However I am going to the other doctor on Thursday to see what he thinks. In the mean time I am seriously weighing all the pro's and cons to both keeping and removing. I thank all that have replied. Most, if not all replies have been comforting.

Again, I know we all heal at different paces and differently as a whole, it is just nice to see positive results to something I have lead myself to believe was horrible. I also spoke to a friend of mine earlier whom I did not know had a hysterectomy. She also had her cervix removed and said the only thing she noticed was very slight dryness during sex. Otherwise that was it.. This was also very comforting to me..

Thank you all sooo much for your replies..
