Surgery Friday-So nervous!!

I'm beginning to become very nervous!! Surgery is Friday and I'm having a TVH with a bladder sling. I don't really know what to expect and I'm terrified to have my vagina cut after what I experienced during childbirth. I'm sad, I'm angry, I'm nervous, I'm stressed out and I'm having second thoughts!! I want to sit in the floor and cry! I feel like such a big baby!

I guess I just had to get that off my chest.

Re: Surgery Friday-So nervous!!

Oh dear! Bless your heart, you are SO not alone right now!

I was freaking out when it was time for mine. I became a different person altogether. I went in different phases, one being a "nesting" phase, getting everything in good tidy order, etc.

I think it feels good to get it off your chest rather than lock it in, so Good For You!

If you're having second thoughts, don't take those lightly. You might consider talking to your doctor or even looking into a second opinion if you can -- even at this 11th hour. Make a PROS and CONS list. This is too big a deal not to do all you can to make sure you are doing what is best for you, your health, and your life.

All that said, just know we are behind you 100% no matter what you decide.

Re: Surgery Friday-So nervous!!

The emotional turmoil you are experiencing is very normal. This is MAJOR SURGERY, and you are having an important organ removed. This is something that has made its presence known to you for decades, and now it is being taken away from you. Of course you are upset. This is a big deal. I cried several times when I found out I had a hysterectomy, and had a few panic moments. (I also cried alot afterwards, too.)

However, if your are having second thoughts, and your health is not in danger, getting another opinion on your condition is something you may want to consider. Talk to your doctor about pros and cons like toonces suggested. You cannot undo this surgery.

Good luck to you.
