Dr. Released-now nervous...

I have been released to be intimate again at 5 weeks-and I am scared, nervous, don't ever feel like sex again! I have read stories about torn vaginal cuffs.... Any positive comments or tips are welcomed and appreciated!

Re: Dr. Released-now nervous...

I totally understand! I was the same way. My doctor released me but I still waited another 2 weeks. We started to once but I got nervous after he first released me. Our first time post op was good once I got past the nerves. I did spot just a little immediately after but then it stopped just as quickly. My doctor advised for me to be on too the first few times to be in control. That really helped me to feel better. I could stop immediately if anything didn't feel right. Best of luck to you. Take your time. Just because you might be physically ready sometimes it takes longer to be emotionally ready.

Re: Dr. Released-now nervous...

I was nervous too. But all went very well. We were very gentle, with lots of foreplay. DH let me be in control, and the woman on top position worked best for us, as it kept pressure off my still sensitive belly.

I had a little spotting afterwards, which is perfectly normal.

It really was good, and it was like getting to know each other all over again.

Re: Dr. Released-now nervous...

I believe that the all-clear from doc doesn't necessarily mean you're ready. I was cleared at 8 weeks I knew I was still too sore to have anything up there. So we waited. This is a decision you and DH need to make together because he is probably as freaked out as you are. The first time was sore but not painful, so we stopped after a few minutes. No bleeding. We tried again in a week. I suggest go slow, use lube, be on top and communicate your feelings to your partner. Sex post op takes patience and trust. At more than 6 months post op, we still aren't all the way back to normal in the bedroom. Good luck :-)
