Is this Normal??

I'm not too sure of my "Set Date".

Spoke to dr a week ago today about setting a date for LAVH and we agreed on Feb 6th and since then I haven't heard from anyone so I finally broke down and call my doc's office this afternoon and was told they faxed the "OR" I guess for availablity but she haven't heard anything back but she will fax them again today???

Then I called my insurance company for benefits coverage and too also see if atleast a claim was filed and what do you know......NO CLAIM, NO CLUE

Is this normal? or did someone drop the ball

Re: Is this Normal??????

Not sure about the appointment - my dr's appointment desk called me once everything was set up.

Insurance-wise - when I finally started bugging people last week, I was told that the drs. office would start the Pre-Authorization paperwork the same day as my pre-op - which was yesterday. The hospital reminded me to check one day before my surgery to make sure all was in place.

(I'm pretty sure I'm going to check with them Friday...not patient enough to wait 'til the day before. )

Re: Is this Normal??????

I think it really depends on your insurance carrier and doctor. If yours is like mine, you may need to get pre-approval from the insurance company before the surgery, but it was not listed as a "claim" - just a "pre-approval". I checked my online account to keep track of the communications between the doc and insurance company. Just keep on top of it like you are doing. Regarding the OR, the doctors usually have to rent/reserve the OR with the hospital, so I am sure that is what the fax is about.

I know these things can drive you crazy! Good luck..
