Anyone else having issues with burping?

Hello everone, by the grace of God healing is really going well except for the burping. I started issuing really embarassing burps since my op and no-one can explain it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Anyone else having issues with burping?

Yes yes yes! I have so much air in my belly now and I burp all the time. I don't know why and I haven't sought medical help for it. It started after surgery and hasn't stopped. I guess I have accepted it as one of the many weird things that happens after a hyst.

Re: Anyone else having issues with burping?

Don't waste money seeking medical help. They won't find anything. I've been for scopes and X-rays and what else and they don't see anything wrong. Be prepared, though, to be embarrased when you least expect like when you think you opening your mouth to say something and wind comes out instead. Really embarrasingly loud and rude. After 6 months I'm learning to see the funny side of it. I Just hope and pray that at some point it will go away. I'm also learning to watch my diet even more carefully now. Things like chips, squash, pumpkin, seems to make it worse. Good luck. let me know if you find a quick cure.

Re: Anyone else having issues with burping?

I have had some burping since my hyst but nothing major until tonight and it was like I seriously couldn't stop. I felt like I had so much pressure in my belly and it seemed like I burped probably 20-30 times. The last burp finally gave me relief, but I couldn't believe that it went on like that for so long.

Re: Anyone else having issues with burping?

The gas pain started immediately post-op, which is normal. I'd never taken Gas-X before, but was reminding my nurse to bring it whenever she could! When I checked out, I remembered to put Gas-X on my shopping list and at over 2 months post-op, I still reach for it now and then.

I don't know if the surgery is causing the gas, but since I'm still healing inside, I really don't appreciate the pressure from gas. I am not changing any of my eating or lifestyle habits so far, except for the Gas-X.

If this continues, I will probably start looking more closely at what seems to bring it on - certain foods, eating too fast, etc. I'm in my mid-50's and notice a lot of little changes from age, such as snoring (as reported by DH it has grown quite scary) swallowing the wrong way (either while eating or even if just sitting on the sofa) and other odd things that seem related to air or food, eating or breathing. Perhaps all of these things are related to how age affects our bodies.

Re: Anyone else having issues with burping?

I have the same issue. I found out that I have a hiatal hernia so my thinks that may be contributing to the extra burping. It is quite embarrassing at times, but for the most part (unless I am somewhere VERY public), I just make a joke about practicing for a burping contest and everyone laughs and I don't feel so self conscious about it.
