You are going to be super surprised over how easy this surgery is.

Upside down? In 100% honesty I ready your post and thought to myself...I was upside down? ha ha... apparently no ill effects.

I had my cervix removed too. I have not missed it. I feel normal sexually btw.

You will be fine. I know it is hard to believe, but one day you will be the lady 6 months from now promising someone else they will be fine. .

The absolute worst part in my opinion was waiting in pre-op...I was so nervous for nothing. You got this!

Re: My Robotic Hysterectomy is Scheduled for 2/3 & I need support!

Hi there!!! I was a nervous wreck about my Davinci total hys. Had it Jan 5. 5 small incisions. Had a pure liquid diet the day before no other prep. I feel perfectly normal, just more tired and only really get sore when I start doing house work! This procedure was the most gentle of anything I have had jn the past and I have had a lot. So relieved it is over and I can look forward to getting into shape for spring. I am 47 and had been supplementing progesterone (bio identical) before for Pms symptoms and after about 10 days I increased the dose and feel great. Having hot flashes at night and using an estrogen cream. You will be glad you did it! Good luck and take care!!'

praying for you on your big day. and I think that all of us are scared I know I was and am when he told me I needed a DvH. You go home and hit the net and then it slaps you so hard your head spins. Mine did. I am scared about the after not the actuall surgery. I have two kids and a husband so I am worried about them. getting rid of the pain and bleeding is the easy part.

Re: My Robotic Hysterectomy is Scheduled for 2/3 & I need support!

I can't tell you enough how much all of you have helped me to be more confident of my decision and less afraid of the surgery. I can feel all the love and support across the miles and if nothing else, I'll be stronger for all of you who are having surgery around the same time as me.

I just got off the phone with my doctor and not only did she answer more of my questions, her kind and gentle manner really put me at ease.

I have less than 7 days to go and instead of dreading it, I'm actually feeling ready to just get it done and over with.

Thank you again to all that have responded to my post. I feel your prayers and will keep all of you in mine as well!

Re: My Robotic Hysterectomy is Scheduled for 2/3 & I need support!

I had the DaVinci 5 months ago...and I was scared too. I did much research and decided this would be the way to go. Everyone is different, and I had a lot of people praying for me, but I was sitting up the very next day and did not need alot of pain medicine after about 3 days....I felt pretty good after having major surgery....I give the glory to God. With the Davinci, they can magnify and see much better than the traditional laproscopic procedure. It is gonna be ok!! you will be on the road to recovery before ya know it

Re: My Robotic Hysterectomy is Scheduled for 2/3 & I need support!

I'm 42. I had DaVinci jan 20. Kept right ovary. Did the GoLightly bowel prep and didn't eat a thing the day before. Too nervous I was scared to death! About everything! They wheeled me into the Pre- op room where I talked to dr and anesthesiologist. Last thing I remember was being wheeled into op room. Don't even remember being moved to op table. Next thing I knew, it was all over. I was in recovery room. Felt ok. No nausea. I've just been hanging around the house all week. Got out for awhile on Fri and yesterday. Good luck too you. You will be fine!

Re: My Robotic Hysterectomy is Scheduled for 2/3 & I need support!

Monsheri, I had my davinci hyster on Jan 6th. My Dr also said there was no need to do a bowel prep, just nothing to eat or drink after midnight, the night before. I still took Miralax the day before to clean my intestines out and boy was I very happy i did. The Davinci surgery is GREAT but when you come out and are fully awake your body wants to do it's normal stuff and there is no way you can get up immediately after the surgery cause you are tired, in pain, and have a catheter inside you. Imagine waking up in pain and suddenly you need to "go". Uh uh, not me! LOL Plus, an unempty colon will only put more pressure on your abdomen which will already be so swelled up and gassy from the surgery. My sister who stayed with me that night at the hospital, and I are firm about cleaning out the intestines before any surgery. Good luck, and God bless!

Re: My Robotic Hysterectomy is Scheduled for 2/3 & I need support!

I read everything I could about the Davinci surgery and I found hystersisters and reading the posts helped me alot. I am 4 days post op. I had the uterus removed only, but only you can answer whether or not its best for your situation. everyone's situation, experience and recovery will likely be a little different.

I did an enema per my doctor's orders the night before and ate nothing after midnight. She said it helps not be constipated afterwards. I stayed on a liquid diet until i had my first bowel movement, which was yesterday morning and i feel great knowing that's no longer an issue. i started taking stool softners and gas-x in the day after surgery - as it turns out i had no issues and it wasn't painful.

It's only been 4 days...and i keep reminding myself that its only been 4 days..b/c i cannot believe i feel as good as i do. i have been off pain medication since the day after surgery and i have to make myself rest because i feel so good and cant believe that i had surgery wed. i pray yours go as well, even better! Bless you.
